TESTING WHILE ON MEDS

Hello, did a hpt this morning,I just havnt felt right, bit nauseaus, just different. Anyway was a faint pink line in positive side so rang clinic. They "sort of had a go a me" for taking a hpt, said there was no way i was pregnant as my lining at first scan was 2.2 and nothing showed up. Also must be the various hormones going on in my body. I am not on any hcg products- i am on buserelin and menopur but guess these must have caused the line. Just wondering have any of you done a similar thing? we have had sex 2-3 weeks ago but I did take a test on scan day and was neg so it has to be these other products causing a positive test. Anyway second scan wed and have been told to carry on with meds. lots love melissax

Hello and thankyou for your kind comment. Had scan yesterday, no bean unfortunetly, very low today but have to be focused for the rest of this, my last ivf cycle. scan revealed 5 follies, which is what I expected as the same as last time, size wise four were ok, 10, 12, 13, 14 but the 5th was 22 so will probably lose that one.Just have to hope we get the max eggs we can as last time only one was suitable and I really want to put back two even three if we can get this many. my egg quality is poor but with acupuncture and my extra vitamins who knows we may have success this time, best wishes to you love melissax

It's very hard not to feel deflated when you were getting positive hpt's and then positive blood, only for them later to tell you the blood is from the meds.

I'm sure you will get your BFP soon!!  Let us know what happens with your scan.  Maybe there is a little bean in there after all :-)

Thanks for listening to me, I have been told not pregnant, the beta level of 9 is from the meds, something to do with rising eostrogen and receptors, don't understand will have it explained more tomorrow at scan. I have to take my menopur etc tonight so I am back where I was. feel extreamly deflated and uneasy, but thanks for all your comments and advice, many thanks melissax

Hi,

My clinic said anything above 5 is positive and as this is very early it could be perfectly normal to be 9 only at this stage.  The issue will be if it doubles in a few day.

Wishing you very sticky baby dust. I will be following you closely and wishing you the very very best.  This is one very determined embryo to get itself implanted despite everything going on.

Wow!!!!  What a miracle! What did the nurse have to say about that!?!?!  I have a great feeling about this my friend!  It sounds like you would be very early in the pregnancy, and that's why your levels are so low.  When are they going to test again???  You must be sooo happy!!!  See, Miracles Can Happen!!!!!!

Two more HPTs and both showing BFP! That would be so wonderful news! Is there no way you can go to your clinic today to hopefully get a clear answer as soon as possible? The nurse has no right to be rude. You are their paying patient. My feeling is the sooner you'd stop the meds the better if you are pregnant. Best wishes and lots of super sticky baby dust.

Definately take that test!!!  You need to do it first thing in the a.m. and let us know!  I agree about the nurses though!   I do have a friend that did ivf and it failed, and she got pregnant the next month naturally... so it can happen!!!  And remember... your son was concieved naturally to!  Do not think this can't happen to you cause it might of !

Thanks again, I have a clear blue , will do that tomorrow and see if it says not pregnant or pregnant. It may be evapouration line but there was def another faint pink line there. I wish all the nurses could be patient, helpful, understanding even if they are frustrated with the same old questions or don't know why we do things that they think so daft. We are the ones going through high emotions, stressful treatments not to mention paying loads of money. will update best wishes to all melissax

From what I understand the only med that can give you a positive HPT is an HCG trigger shot.  If you have not had that and it truly was pink and not an evap line, I would presume you are pregnant!

I would suggest doing a digital test, like First Response and if it says pregnant, then call your doctor and insist on a blood test immediately!  You don't want to keep taking those meds if you are pregnant.

Good Luck and SSBD!!

Remember those doctors make mistakes all the time!!

Thank you for your comments, yes the nurse at my clinic said"what are you doing an hpt for?!" in a foul voice, very offish, and i said it was just instinct, my husband has had a sick bug over weekend and I have felt sick too but we did have sex a few weeks ago and there happened to be a hpt in bathroom, so I just did it. She then rung back and really stressed there no way I could be pregnant because of my 2.2 lining. The meds I am taking are my stimms for ivf, to stimuate the follicles and you are most def not to take these if pregnant, but she really said it was all the meds and hormone mix that could give a faint positive line. Will do another test tomorrow and take it with me to clinic wed morning, menopur doesnt produce hcg but maybe it is a mix of all meds. will update whatever, and if like I DO EXPECT NOT PREGNANT, will find out how many follies growing, at least 5 I hope, best wishes melissaxx

Mel, I would honestly call the Dr office and tell them you want a blood test to rule it out! There are a couple people on here who's dr told them there is no way they are preg and then they misscarried. I hope this is really a BFP for you! Keep us posted!

Wow, isn't that strange?  Geez wouldn't that be just wonderful news if it is right?!?!  Do you have access to a "better" pregnancy test, or did you use the best available?  I would surely do another test or 2 just to see what they show....

I'll be watching for your update!!!

They had a go on you? They aren't God, that faint line could mean pregnancy, and if they are wrong, they could have a lawsuit on their hands. I have heard so many stories where the office says, "YOU CAN'T BE"...They aren't right about everything. Are the meds for a condition? Are they 100% necessary? When I started TTC, I came off my meds, and I told the doctor that if and when I am pregnant, I want a med-free baby.
