Wow I guess I am lucky to live in connecticut and have an insurance called "connecticare" which covers IVF completely, with meds and only a $25.00 copay for visits for bloodwork/u/s-transfer&retrieval. So its only going to be a couple hundred when all copays are added up.

The RE that I go to in Omaha charges 7000 for IVF...BUT you pay for also for the blood work and u/s...so probably more like 8000...then I spend about 800 on meds.
She doesnt do any sort of plan but many take out loans through this place that they have a brochure for.
Have you called her yet?? She has a LONG wait to get into see her so I'd call
If you need the number for her I'd be happy to send it.
Lots of people from Lincoln will come up to see her too.  My friend who's a nurse in Lincoln said that they refer ALL fertility patients to Dr. Doherty.

My RE is pretty cheap.  I pay $2900 per ivf cycle.  Yes, that is with insurance and that $2900 is my copay and my cryopreservation (not covered with ins.).  At my Dr. office, if we do not go through ins. the cost is only $8k for the whole thing, including meds.  Grand Rapids Fertility is the name.

Ladies thanks i did some figuring and if we start saving only my paychecks in a year we will have 7000 dollars thats enough to pay for meds out of pocket and then we would probably get a loan for the rest. so i guess maybe in a years time we will seriously be looking at IVF. any other advice is welcome tough

Some insurances state that they do not cover any expenses. But, when you look into all the fine print, usually in a completely different area of your policy, they do under some conditions. After looking at mine with a magnifying glass, lol they pay if over 35 and 6 mos w/o conception or 12 mos under 35. However, I still have a $5,000 deductible and they don't pay for the meds. BUT, it does help if we decide to go that route. Tim is really adamant about not doing it.

I am struggling with this right now too!  I just wish ALL insurances covered IVF or infertility in general!! It makes me mad that they don't!!! Where I live it was all coming out to be 17,000 that covers EVERYTHING (thru ARC you can look it up on the web).  They recommended us to a medical credit card and our payments would have been 290 a month if we would have went through with it.  We actually just canceled everything (i'm a little sad about that) because that is a hefty payment for the next 7 years of our life! We have an 8 year old dh and I'm stressed about it taking so long for another one!  I think we're gonna save $$ all year and try for a baby next summer although we have some big credit card debt (all from fertility) that needs to be paid off first before we can start the savings!!! Good luck!

Yes, those are prices for one cycle.  Some clinics offer packaged deals like 20-25K for 2 fresh cycles +FETs but we do not have that option.
Good luck!

We are paying out of pocket so here's a breakdown of our expenses:
1. Prescription drugs: $4500 (you can be paying less if you use Follistim instead og Gonal-F and you can get a 50% discount if you order your meds from UK or Canada)
2. ivf lab charges: $3740 (this is w/o ICSI and potential costs of freezing and storing the embryos)
3. Retrieval+transfer hospital charges: $2000+
4.  Anesthesiology: $400
5.  My doc's charges: $1500+685 for retrieval and transfer plus visits, tests and u/s that I hope my insurance will at least partially pay for.  So, it all adds up to a pretty penny.
Note that TX prices are not the lowest but not the highest either.

I hope this helps.

Oh...what a great idea!! That would sure be the way to go...and fund all of our IVF's! I should have put a collection tin out front at work and had everyone bring in their change (we do a lot of fundraisers...what's one more!!!)
So here is what we did for our IUI/IVF "fertility challenges" $$$ (man...if I would have known I would have started a fertility fund after graduating from college!!! it's what I have told my sister and dh to do!) but who would ever think they would need to start saving for that! So...we ended up buying my meds w/ our savings (we didnt have much in savings, had just bought a new house) and we put the rest on a 0% interest for 1 yr credit card. Also, by PIF at our clinic they give a 5% discount (ck your clinic if they might offer something like that). Then my paycheck for the next year went to pay off that credit card (I was then planning on staying home after baby, so this got us prepped!) It was a lot to take in and adjust our budget, but I knew we didn't have time to try to save up (clock was ticking away!) and I was impatient and after trying on own for two years I wanted a baby NOW! (i knew...easier said than done!) Now we are doing it again...FET and so went back to work p/t to pay off the cycles...and here we go again!!
Good luck to you!!! :O)
