Secondary Infertility? Please Help

Hello ladies,
I am new to the board, but not to the website. My husband and I conceived our first baby via natural cycle IUI on the first try. The docs said that we were candidates for invitro due to my husbands morphology issue (2%). Anyway, it was a miracle that it worked then, and we were blessed with a beautiful son.

Now we are trying for baby number 2, and my husbands morph is significantly better, almost in the normal range. His count is a little lower, but nothing bad. So they said maybe mild male factor this time but not really. We tried 2 IUI sessions (Oct and Nov), each one was a double IUI...so I had 4 all together, 2 per cycle.

It has not worked, and I am not sure why. The conditions we conceived our son under were so much worse...and now that things are better, we even doubled up on the IUIs, and nothing. Does anyone have any experience with secondary infertility, or have any thoughts on what might be the problem? I am pretty disappointed. We have been trying since 2008 to grow our family and most of that time was trying naturally, but now that we are getting help, it still isn't working this time around.

Thanks so much for reading!

Hi Jenny, thank you for your reply and your words of encouragement! Yes, we too can not afford IVF so we are hoping too that IUI works again. Good luck to you in March! It can happen. Our first was conceived via IUI on the first try and while my husbands count was good, he had only 2% normal shaped sperm. So I think IUI is a good route for you guys to try given your circumstances. We improved my husbands count by switching to all organic foods, eliminating high fructose corn syrup, aspartame, and even switching to natural soaps, deodorants, and shampoos. I don't know if it was the reason for his improved morphology or a coincidence, but it can't hurt either way to clean up some of the toxins in your life ("your" as in generally speaking).

Typically one IUI is done per cycle, and that is what we did with our son. But this time, we decided to do 2 back to back IUIs. I went in and got an IUI one day, then came in the very next day for a second IUI.  That's a double IUI.

Thanks again for responding and definitely keep in touch <3

Hi there, I am not sure why your 2 IUI's did not work, but don't give up.  My husband has low count and lower motility, but still ok.  We are going to meet with a fertility specialist at the end if Jan & we hope to do our 1st IUI in March or april.  I really hope we can do IUI because I do not think we can afford IVF.  How did you improve your hubby numbers, if you don't mind me asking.  I f you want to add me as a friend and you can view my journals re: hubby's info.  I have not heard of a double IUI, what is that?  I wish you all the best!!
