I've talked to a lot of women on this forum who have had to delay IVF due to a cyst. I know it's a bummer when you get yourself ready for it and it's delayed, but it wont be too much longer. You could talk to "butterflybabies" she just went through the same thing. Good luck
I just got back from RE.I will not be starting the lupron shots due to a cyst on my left ovary. He prescribed agysten 5mg for 7 days and then I will go back to see RE when AF shows up. said we would start stims then if everything looks good. What do you ladies think?
I didn't get crampy on the stimulants, the only thing I noticed was the Menopur stings a little when it goes in. Many people start to feel their ovaries get big and sore from all the follicles but I didn't notice that much until maybe the last couple of days before retrieval. I didn't feel many side effects during the injectables I was tired a lot. The number of follicles definitely varies depending on how you react to the stims. At every u/s the RE saw 10 follicles that were a good size and a few others that were smaller so when retrieval came they took 15, but just those 10 were mature. I thought that was on the low side but they assured me it was normal, it's quality not quantity. My clinic wants you to have at least 6 to go forward. If you have 8 already it sounds like you'll do great.
Hi murd0ck.. I am to start my injectable Bravelle and Menopur tomorrow... A friend of mine tells me that this is very crampy and uncomfortable. can you tell me if it was the same for you?? plus if you do not mind.. can you tell me how many follicles to expect? baseline I had about 8... but I am not sure after these meds how much I should have. Anyway thank you for your wishes
I really apperciate all the support and knowledge you all i have given me.I will post when i get to work after RE apt.
Hi,
Good luck during your IVF, the progesterone can come in an insert or an injection. I wasn't given a choice but the inserts sound a lot nicer than the intramuscular injections I'm on. You got lucky :) My butt is so sore with these shots.
Hi murd0ck.. I thought progesteron given after the embryo transfer was in the form of vaginal inserts?? Am I picturing the wrong medicine here??
Hi Friends..
This is my first cycle of IVF too. I am 28 years old and in my case I have had problems with PCOS. My doctor put me on a month of BCP and right now I have been on Lupron for almost 12 days. I am now going to start my other meds on saturday and I cannot tell everyone how nervous I am about the whole thing... This looks like a very helpful community with people who have gone through this holding out their hands to others who are just beginning this journey. Thank you everyone for your support....
I haven't done IVF...but just wanted to wish you best of luck!!!
lil_shelle: We did IVF because my tubes are blocked the doctor reccomended ICSI even though DH has normal semen analysis
morgansmommy: of course I don't mind I'm so happy for you I hope I get my BFP on the 31st although I don't have any symptoms yet a few cramps on and off but it's only been 4 1/2 days since transfer, I'm trying not to overthink it
I had a 5 day transfer last month. I know how scary this whole process seems. It's not as bad as I thought it would be, the Lupron doesn't hurt at all like she said the needle is so small and sharp. I started on 10 units of Lupron. Then they added the Gonal F, I was on 225 2 times a day. Again, not a bad shot. Later I took the HCG trigger (OVidrel), then 35.5 hours later was the retrieval. They are looking for follicles to grow, follicles are NOT eggs. Eggs are in the follicles, I was very confused about that. The only shot I do not like is the progesterone because yes it is big and your dh will be doing it. BUT although your rear can get sore, the good news is that the shot makes you stay pregnant when you get pregnant...in theory, so it is SOOOOO worth it! If you can try to remember to relax and try not to stress during any of it, that will help your chances signifigantly. Rest for 2 days after transfer and good luck!
murd0ck, I copied and pasted yours and changed it to my protocol, hope you don't mind, it saved some typing! :)
Thanks for your reply! If you dont mind me asking did you do IVF for male or female infertility?I think we have a little of both male being more of an issue very low SA 3 times
I just had my 3 day transfer on Sunday I know how scary this whole process seems. It's not as bad as I thought it would be, the sub-q shots like Lupron don't hurt at all the needle is so small and sharp. I started on 20 units (many people start on 10) of Lupron during my last week of bc pills. Then after 11 days of suppression on Lupron they added the stimulants ( I had 125 iu of the Follistim pen and 2 vials of menupur a day as well as the lupron). 11 days later I took the HCG trigger, then 36 hours later was the retieval. The retrieval was 24 days from the day I started Lupron, but it can vary depending on what how fast your follicles grow. The only scary shot so far has been the progesterone, but even that one looks worse than it is. Good luck during your whole IVF cycle.
