Progesteron shot

Hi Lasies,
I just found out that the painful amounts of progesteron that I am taking is not enough and they doubled my dose.  Has this happened to anyone else.  My husband gave me the first shot last night and I am not sure if I was just getting used to the original amount or what, but I was in so much pain that I couldn't sit, lay, or even sleep on that side.  This morning I am still sore and I feel like all of the medication has not been absorbed yet.  Does anyone have any advice on what to do to help with the soreness.

This happened to me as well, I had to start taking 2 per day.  I found that giving the shot a little higher on my butt helped. However, I still did have some bruises and knots.  I found out Monday (at 11 weeks, and after some 250+ injections) that I don't have to take the progesterone shots anymore.  There's an end to it, but unfortunately not as quickly as you'd like.

Also, ice a spot down to dull it before hand, have hubby hold the shot in his hand to warm the fluid and make it easier to push.  Then as Mary97 said, use the massage and a heating pad.  Watch out that you don't always stick the same spots, rotate hips and feel around for a "non-lumpy" place.

Feel for ya!  Congrats and hope you can stand the shots, it'll be only for a little while. When the placenta takes over, they should take you off the shots.

Good luck!

oh by the way, my husband massages the site afterwards and then I use a heating pad for about 10 minutes.  Afterwards I feel a vague soreness, but not too bad.

Hi, how did they know it is not enough?  I actually was given a smaller gauge needle b/c the nurse teaching the shot said I had such a "tiny bottom"  And I worry that I'm not getting the full effects b/c honestly the shot is not that big a deal as far as discomfort.... and I've heard most people find it to be painful.  We were wondering if they can do a blood test to make sure that I'm getting enough deep in the muscle.
