Timed Intercourse

I am currently on my 3rd cycle of Femara and my DH and I are currently using timed intercourse (no IUI).  I went in for an ultrasound last Friday and it showed a mature follicle that they felt was about to rupture.  I also got a positive OPK that day.  My temperature increased on Sunday and has stayed elevated, so I assume that I ovulated on Saturday.  We bd Thurs, Fri, Sat, & Sun.  My question is this:  When I had my ultrasound, the doctor said to bd that day and the next day and then every other day for a week.  I'm assuming that she told me this just to cover all the bases in case ovulation was delayed.  Is that correct?  My understanding was that once my temps increased, our fertile window was over.  Any thoughts on this?  I guess I am just confused as to why she would suggest bd for up to a week after ovulation.  Thanks!

your dr.is right in its time as ovum lives for 48 hours after ovulation so if u ovulated later than day u expected u can catch it,but i have advice for u about bd before ovulation, try not 2 bd too much before ovulation time as this may exhaust the sperms count so try to make bd in exact day of ovulation but before it not for 3-4 days then day after day for a week, good luck to u.

Hello! I agree! Sounds like yall covered your bases with thursday thru Sun, but agree, sounds like after sunday or monday you were probably out of your window already!  But we did the same thing, even though I'm pretty sure i O'd yesterday morning still want to make sure and cover our bases since I know so many people who get preg on the night that they thought was too late!!  GOOD LUCK! keep us updated!

Hi. I think your doctor was correct in suggesting as many days as possible just in case. But it sounds like you covered all your fertile days just fine! I'm pretty sure I O'ed on Tuesday and we BD'd on Sunday and 2x on Tuesday. Hope that was enough!

Good luck!!!

It is true that once your temps go up you have indeed ovulated( unsure if there are any rare cases).  However, the egg can live anywhere from 6-24 hours.  So if you ovulated on Saturday (not sure what time) then there is a possibility that that the egg could have survived for as long as early Monday.  That is just pushing it though because they say the egg really doesn't survive that long.  did you take another OPK to confirm that it was negative and that you caught your surge?
