Timing of IUI

My ob gyn gave me my hcg trigger friday at 9 am. I was away on sat. so she scheduled the IUI for sunday at 9am. I read other posts that were answered and it said ovulation occurs 36 hrs after the shot. Why would they schedule an IUI at 48hrs isn't it to late? Should I ask next time to do it earlier. My OB said they do one at 24 and one at 48.Can you still get pregnant if you ovulated at 36hrs?
Thank you so much

I agree with bny. You probably ovulated before your IUI, but since the egg can live for up to 24 hours, and the sperm specimen is placed straight into your uterus, you still have a chance! Best of luck to you!

i've heard of dr's doing two at 24 and at 48.. and it working! : )   ovulation can vary, but typically it is around 36-39 hours after the trigger.. your egg can last almost 24 hours i believe and the sperm a day or longer once washed! good luck! : )
