Hi SusannaL--How are you feeling today? Did you end up taking a home pg test? Fingers crossed that this cycle works for you -- I really mean it, considering all that you've already been through!!!
MHV is right, the lab is probably is most important part, the doctor is just deciding on medications and cycle monitoring. If you look at published data on success rates, some clinics are much more successful than others.
Hello MHV--Now you're beginning to scare me. What kinds of wrong things have you heard go on in the labs? If the labs were doing something wrong, wouldn't the embryos not make it to Day 5? I have to be honest with you. After my 5th cycle failed, I actually started to feel paranoid that something was going awry in the lab. I got mad at myself for thinking such things and never said anything to anyone.
Plumber will answer she is awesome :). Although, she is pretty close to being due....lol
Well. It would be absolutely silly not to do the free cycle...hell, they owe you as many free cycles as it takes to reach success! The only problem in just switching doctors in the same clinic is, you arevstill dealing with the same lab. That's is where the embryos are taken care of. A clinic is only s good as its lab....unfortunately... :(. That's what I learned the hard way :(.
Hi Sabrina, I totally understand what you are saying- I have a career (I'm an emergency doctor) but that is nothing compared to being a mum. Before I had my daughter, I thought I would be satisfied and complete with one child but that only lasted a few months and then the same old feelings came back. I don't think your age matters as such, it's how you feel and I'm sure one day you become old enough that the desire starts to fade but I think for me that might be quite old. It seems a real shame not to take advantage of a subsidised cycle, I don't think I could pass that up. I think I would tell my husband that I had to do it, and he had to let me. Actually that is what I did do before this cycle. He came around but he was reluctant.
Here is a breakdown
Good luck and baby dust!!!!!
5-Day Transfer
Days Past Transfer (DPT)
One- The blastocyst begins to hatch out of its shell
Two -The blastocyst continues to hatch out of its shell and begins to attach itself to the uterus
Three - The blastocyst attaches deeper into the uterine lining, beginning implantation
Four - Implantation continues
Five - Implantation is complete, cells that will eventually become the placenta and fetus have begun to develop
Six - Human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) starts to enter the blood stream
Seven - Fetal development continues and hCG continues to be secreted
Eight -Fetal development continues and hCG continues to be secreted
Nine - Levels of hCG are now high enough to detect a pregnancy
