Hello,
There are numerous reasons for having irregular periods. High level of stress, cholesterol, hormonal imbalance, chain smoking, dramatic changes in your life style may be some of the common causes of you irregular periods. The other causes of irregular periods could be due to hormonal imbalance, stress, chronic illness, polycystic ovarian disease, thyroid gland disorders or diseases, pituitary gland tumors or cyst, galactorrhea, prolactinomas etc.
If this was the first episode of irregularity in the periods, then wait for the coming cycle and try lifestyle modification by reducing stress and decreasing cholesterol levels. But if the repeat happens, then consult a gynecologist and get yourself thoroughly examined to diagnose the cause of irregular periods and start with the treatment.
I hope it helps. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Hi there,
Ugh I hate irregular cycles. Have you been sick? Stressed? Exercising or change in dieting or anything different at all? I was super stressed awhile back and that changed my cycles from 30 days to 42 days. I was hopeful I was pregnant but nope, stress made my period late. :( Are you using opk's (ovulations predictor Kits) or taking your BBT(Basal Body Temp) to see if you're ovulating? I really hope you figure out what's going on. I hated having 2 months of irregular cycles. BUT once all that stress was gone my periods returned back to normal.
