Thanks for responding Candie!  Sorry I didn't get back to you Dee but I've been out on vacation for the last week! Everything Candie said was great info.  Feel free to ask any more questions as you get going as there are a lot of us willing to try and help if  we can.  Good luck

Hi there Dee.  That's good that you've been using the OPK's.  If you would happen to consult a doctor, BBT (basal body temperature) charting is a great first step to see if anything seems out of sorts.  Basically, you need to get a BBT thermometer and try to take your temp at the same time every morning before you get out of bed.  Once you O, your temp should increase slightly and stay elevated through the rest of your cycle.  In your Med Help profile, you can add the Ovulation Tracker and enter your information there and it will plot the temps for you.  If you check out some of our profiles, you'll see our charts.  Once you temp for a cycle or two, you should see a pattern develop.  If you are getting + on your OPK's, then this should happen a few days before your temps increase.  Another sign you can watch for is an increase in CM (cervical mucus).  It should get more abundant and clear as you approach O.

As far as vitamins, it's good to take at least a multivitamin that has plenty of Folic Acid.  Most doctors are also willing to prescribe prenatal vitamins if they know you are TTC.  As far as the medicines, I think the others were talking about drugs that help induce ovulation, but you may not need that.

I know how hard it can be to keep trying without anything happening, but we're here to help!  We've all been through this (and still are!).  Once you have a few charts done, you could consult a doctor.  Your OBGYN would be able to run basic bloodwork and your husband could have a semen analysis.

Here are links to 2 good articles on BBT.  Also, there is a great book called "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler that is a WONDERFUL resource on all the TTC basics.  Good luck to you!  :)

Hi..  How do I chart my temperature?  I have been using ovulation kits.  What kind of medicine would I get?  Is there a special vitamin I should buy too?  I just am newly married and I don't much about any of this fertility issue. Anyone can offer suggestions I would appreciate all of them. Thanks.

Have you tried charting temp, cervical mucus, and or cervix position?  I agree with Heather that it's a good thing to talk to a specialist, however, if you haven't looking into charting I, personally, wouldn't go straight to medications.  And if your insurance would make it expensive or availability is poor, charting is something you could start tonight that once you get going on can give your doctor or specialist TONS more info on what the potential problem might be.  The important things to find out are : 1. if you are ovulating and when, 2. if you have sufficient cervical mucus and notice a rather dramatic increase around the time of ovulation, 3. how long of a luteal phase you have which is the time from when you ovulate to the first day of your period.

Anyway.  Good luck to you.  I hope you are able to find some new paths to try.

I hear you! Everyone seems to be pregnant around me too! Are you seeing an RE yet? If not, I would definitely recommend setting up an appointment with an RE as the first step. He or she will probably do some testing and possibly get you on some fertility medication to help increase your chances. Best of luck!
