When is too soon?

Hello, I am new to Medhelp; I am going thru the IVF process and had my embryo transfer on 5/7.  I took my HCG injection two days before my egg retrieval 5/2.  I want to know when is the best time to test?  I just can't wait until my pregnancy test with my Dr on 5/21!!  That is torture...

most likely your symptoms are coming from the progesterone.  Let us know how things go and hang in there!

Try journaling about your experience - it might help relieve the stress :-)) - jen

Thanks for responding.  I had a 3 day transfer.  I go back to my DR on 5/14 for a blood test and then on 5/21 for the preg test.  I have to admit I have taken two already and they have come back negative.  But I am told I am testing way too soon. I had my retrieval on the 4th and the transfer three days later on the 7th.  So i guess now i wait...  I have been having tender swollen breasts lately but that could be due to the estrogen patch i am wearing.  I am eating a LOT too, that I can't explain!  LOL  Could be my nerves...

I personally wait until close to the 17th or 18th but test only if you can handle seeing a BFN.  As you know, unless the hcg trigger's still in your system, a BFN can change into a positive result when hcg rises to a certain level - check out peeonastick.com for good hpts.  Many women have big success w/FRER (First Response Early Result).  Good luck on the 21st and keep us posted - jen

Welcome!  Did you have a three day or a five day transfer?  I think that you can definitely test before two weeks after the transfer.  I thought they had people come in for their beta test 9dpt.  So, since you are supposed to wait 10 days for the HCG injection to be out of your system, I would wait at least 10 days after you took that shot.  How have you been feeling?  I hope you get your bfp!
