there are a number of ways to check for ovulation, the first one is regular periods as ymacias has said, once you have establish how long your regular cycle is, then you can keep an eye on your c.mucous looking for fertile mucous, you can also start using ovulation test strips, following the instructions on when to start testing as per the lenght of your cycle and also charting your temperatures, some ladies also check the position of their cervix as well, so you can do all, a combination or just one, but its better to do a couple, after 1 yr of actively trying to concieve and you have had no luck, then its time to go visit a doctor. You can also start by getting on a good preconception vitamin, folic acid and limit your alcohol consumption as well, good luck :)
Just because u had alcohol doesn't make you infertile. I would be more concerned whether or not you have regular periods? It takes about 6 months to a year of regular sex to get pregnant. You can do an opk to test for ovulation if u want see if you ovulate.
