fsh levels high and im only 28

hi i have just been 2 see my doctor who says we will not be able 2 have ivf as my fsh levels are 18.8 i am only 28 and still have regular periods which are often very heavy and painful the test was done on day1 of my cycle. i had the same test done a year ago on day 4 which came back 13.7 and had another on day 9 which was 7.2. do you think i should seek a second opinion and also have another blood test?

I would definitely see another dr and maybe even another if that one doesn't help. It is possible that you are in pre-ovarian failure. But, there are many other things that can cause high FSH. There are other tests that can be run to see where the problem is. It could be a gland disorder causing the high #.  I wouldn't give up just yet.

Looking at your varying levels.. I wouldn't panic. Get a second opinion from a RE. Good luck!
