pregnancy test

This is probably a stupid question but do pregnancy tests really expire?

I'm several weeks late now but the test I took was negative. When I was tossing it out though I noticed an expiry date. Does that affect the reliability of the test?

They only last 2-3 years n that's including how long it's been on the shelf, you could have bought it a few months ago but it could have been on the shelf fa a couple of years so therefore wen you use it it could already be expired
