IUI tomorrow!

I just had another u/s and my RE decided to give me the trigger this morning and then do 1 IUI tomorrow morning.  I'm not sure why he chose to do 1 over 2 IUIs--maybe because of all my factors (age, follicle size and numbers, etc).

This morning I had a 20mm follicle on the right and a 19mm and 20/21mm on the left.  The nurse inthe office gave me the trigger (thank goodnss DH wont have to do it) and my IUI is in the morning.

She also gave me the remainder of the trigger shot (barely anything there) and said to give the rest to myself in 6 days as a "booster shot."  Anyone ever heard of this before?

I laid there for a good 20+ minuted after the procedure, so I think I'm good!

It's just weird the amount of discharge I'm having today--of course DH and I did bd last night so that might be it as well!

I guess I'm officially in the dreaded 2ww!  I hate it!

The sperm will not come back out!  How long did you lay there afterwards?

I was all worked up before I went too and I thought the same thing:  Is that it?  Pretty neat, huh.  That seemed like that was the easiest part of everything.

JTDs Mom: I think some discharge is normal. If it looked like semen, it was probably just fertile-type cervical mucus (since the mucus is in your cervix, and the catheter goes through it for the IUI). The sperm won't come back out :-) Best of luck to you!!!

Well, I had the IUI this morning and it was a piece of cake!  I literally said "you mean that's it?"  I felt absolutely nothing!

A question, though--is it usual to have some discharge afterwards?  I mean, if I didnt know any better I'd say that it was the sperm/semen coming out, but I think that's impossible (since it was put inside the uterus).  So, what was it?  And is it OK?

This was my first iui this month too.  I was nervous, but honestly, there is nothing to it.  I am very sensitive and have difficulty with gynecological procedures.  I did not have a problem with the iui though.
I am excited for you!  Good luck!

The booster shot can be a good thing. When implantation happens, the uterus views it as a foreign body and tries to reject it. It is the Hcg that it produces when it attaches that tells the uterus not to fight it. The booster is going to tell your body not to reject. I hope this one works for you!!!!!

Me too!  This will be my first IUI so I'm not exactly sure what to expect, but I'm so excited that I have 3 goot follicles to be targets for the sperm!

I'm a little nervous about triplets--twins I'd be OK with, but I think I'd freak out if I got pregnant with 3!

The nurse at the office said the "booster shot" of the leftover HCG was to just give my body an extra boost of hormones.  She said, obviously, I will have already ovulated so nothing will release, but it'll just give me some extra hormones.

I guess no early testing with a HPT this time around!  That HCG will be in there forever!

Good luck JTDs mom!  I am having my IUI this morning.  Only produced 2 follicles, but am excited none the less.  As of 2 days ago they were 17 & 20.  By today they should be big and mature (I really hope).  My Dr. only does IUI per cycle (he is not an RE).  Maybe the "booster" thing is just to make sure you ovulated.  Sounds about right, although I have no idea.

This is my last cycle with Dr.  next month I go to new RE for more aggressive protocoll.
Good luck with your IUI.. let me know if you want to TWW with me.
