hey everyone,
I am just wondering like many of us take shots in IVF treatment as prescribed. so, do you inject yourself or somebody else or spouse does for you..what you do if you overdose/underdose it? so, please share your experience with all of us.

@Tarobinc, I also get very nervous when I see the needle. so, my dh did it for me..it was no fun situation for him either but he did great :)

Yes - I agree with the posts above.  The smaller (in the tummy) needle injections are pretty simple to give yourself.  But the larger 18 gauge needles for the Progesterone in Oil and/or Estrodiol you will probably want to have help.  My husband gave them to me.  It was actually kind of a (strange but true) bonding experience for us.  Our clinic gave injection classes before it all began and they were the ones who said I wouldn't want to give the larger shots (they go in the hip, so it's hard to reach, too) to myself.  There are videos on youtube that can be helpful for you to watch too.

GOOD LUCK!  We just finished our last shot last night, which brings our total of injections from the start of our IVF journey to 128!

I have gone through several IUIs and my husband gave me my shots via a pediactric needle. You should go through an injection class prior to starting a cycle and really, I didn't worry about over or underdosing on any meds since it was simple to mix meds like Bravelle, especially once you have done it.

It was nerve racking for our first cycle but once we realized we could do and it wasn't all that bad, we became more relaxed.

I do not do well with seeing needles, so me giving myself shots would be tough. I had my dh to help so I just went that route.

Good luck!

I have done approx 5 IVF's cycles & this certainly means I have done tons & tons of shots.  My husband has done many of them for me.  There are certain ones such as Gonel-F & lupron I could do on my own because they are smaller needles.
I do however recommend you have someone help you with the Progesterone in Oil shot which is done intromuscular (butt shot)  This is not easy by any means to do alone...not sure I would even try it.

Best Wishes to you!!
