trying to conceive

My husband and i have been together for 11 years , we have had unprotected sex for ten years but only have been really trying to have a baby for over a year now.  We have tried having sex during my fertile window and on ovulation day and we have tried having sex everyday and im still not pregnant. Im only in my upper 20s and im really starting to think we just cant have a baby. I know we should probably go to a doctor but is there anything else we can try or should we just give up?

Thank you all for the advice. We will be sure to try it and see what happens! I had my husband put me on his health insurance expecting to be able to use it to get these tests done and we realized that they dont cover infertility. Would you know if any if these tests would be covered through the insurance or if all these test are considered infertility? We are stuck paying insurance for a year either way but it would be helpful for them to cover some of it. Thanks again!

Both of you should visit an ob gyn/ endocrinologist, and get some preliminary tests done. He will need to do a sperm count, you will need to do a blood work, FSH test, test for testesterone levels etc. You may also need a HSG test to check the health of your fallopian tubes and uterus.
These tests will try to throw light on the issues you both are facing to conceive. The doctor may then suggest IUI (if you are under 35), or IVF otherwise. You will have to take a string of sonograms, to see the rate at which your follicle grows, and narrow down your ovulation date, (you may have to take clomid to stimulate ovulation and estrogen to thicken the lining of follicle/tubes), and then you will have to go in for an IUI on two days of your most fertile period based on the results of your sonogram. Stay positive, and follow the dr;s instructions carefully. You will get your BFP soon!!

I have just had my first IUI and hoping for the best.

You definitely need to see your gyn if you haven't already and start there  You may need a referral to a fertility doc dye to the fact you've never been pregnant. Your tubes may be blocked, only an HSG test can tell. Also you should get your hormone levels checked. Last, if your tests turn out ok it could easily be your husband. This may be an easy fix or it may not. See a specialist.
