Hi All,
I have a slightly different question:  I have been TTC for 23 months, been seeing an infertility specialist for the last 10 months, have been on Clomid, Femara - and this cycle Femara and Novarel - since February (10 months).  I have had 2 miscarriages in the last 6 1/2 months.  Here's my problem: I have one friend who gave birth this week to her first child and I have NO DESIRE to see her, be around her or even hear anything about the baby.  It's not just jealousy about her having a baby and me not being able to (although I suppose it's inevitable that plays a small roll here), but what really irks me is that they intentionally got pregnant when they are in a really bad position to have a child.  They are so financially instable, and I hear her complaining about this all the time, I feel like it's really irresponsible and foolish that they chose to have a child right now.  On the other hand, I hate how this bitterness is really driving a wedge in our friendship, without her even realizing it.  I have just really kept my distance.  Any suggestions of how to deal with bitterness during a long infertility struggle? The odd thing is, I have a large handful of friends and close coworkers that are pregnant and having babies and I am thrilled and excited for all of them...except this one friend.  Hers is the only case where I think it was a really immature, selfish decision.  And yet I hate that I even think that way, but can't bring myself to be phony and act excited for her.  Argh!  Thanks for any advice.  And keep posting your success stories, they're really encouraging.

Depression is common. Think about it we are trying to create a LIFE. I wonder if God had this hard of time... okay well probably not, but keep your head up. On clomid I was a great responder, I had alot of mature follicles. Had me ready for a BFP. But nope. Then we decided to go to the next step because I'm 35 we wanted to be more agressive. I went in for the ultrasound and there was a cyst (about 3cm or mm I dont know these measurements) on my ovary. The RE put me on Birth control for 5 weeks to disolve the cyst. Which now she tells me probably is the reason I only had 5 mature follicles. The BCP probably surpressed my ovaries too much. What the h***? Is what I wanted to say, but of course i have to understand there really is no wa of telling. I did ask her what happens to the follicles that are not released or retrieved, she said they dissolve never to be used again. In saying this I'm not sure the Novral shot will help, if they have not matured enough for IUI they will probably dissolve, BUT there are miracles girl!!! And what the heck if you already have the shot why not, you may chance growing the cyst though so be careful.

FYI: The way my nurse(who by the way seems to be the only person who speaks in lay terms at the clinic) explained it to me is like this. Women unlike Men are born with the same amount of eggs we will have for the rest of our producing lives. Men regenerate constantly. As we get older after ovulating every month, or for those who don't ovulate and the eggs dissolve never to be used again, the amount of eggs we have decreases. Then we put in the factor that not all eggs are "healthy" eggs, this is why for many of us. You and me included our ovaries age before our body. We just were not born with 100,000,000 eggs. Then she said every month our body goes through the cycle and each follicle fights for their time to shine, their time to release, they superbowl touchdown (sorry I come from a house full of athletes), but only one dominant follicle makes it, and the others go away in defeat, never to be seen again. This is why they put us on all these medications to create many dominant follicles at one time. To allow more first draft picks. But still sometimes the meds are too much or not enough, and since everyone is different it takes alot of tweeking. Sorry this got so long, I'm a social worker and sometimes get long winded. Just keep your head up you are only 31 and there are still many steps you have not tried. Tell your RE you want to start being more agressive.
Good Luck. Pray, Pray, Pray!

sorry to hear about them calling this cycle off! ugh, its so frustrating going thru all of this and having more and more obstacles!!!   as far as taking the novarel anyways.. humm.. how big were your follies and how long ago (they say they SHOULD grow 1-2mm each day, and you want them to be around 18mm or more for mature ones before you give yourself the trigger) the danger of giving yourself the trigger and not having a mature follie i would think would be thta it could worsen the cyst and then make next cycle be delayed..but i'm not really 100% sure.. could you ask your doctor to have another ultrasound this week "to just see whats going on in there" when your the paying customer i dont' think it should hurt to just check and see! that way if you do have a mature follie then you can give yourself the trigger!   yes typically on femara people seem to Ovulate ealry... i do around cd12 or 13.....but of course everyone is different.. clomid people seem to O later... GOOD LUCK!

last u/s showed follie were small along with a small cyst..doc never told me of the actual placement of cyst just that it was small and was caused by the femara or clomid and would go away on its own in a couple of weeks and if I went through with menopur injections it would just worsen the cyst...but he contridicted himself by saying nothing stopping you from just trying the old fashion way you never can tell about these things sometime..go figure I guess I was just hoping that follies matured more since las u/s last week and if so the novarel could help everything else along....to answere your question they really don't know outside of the fact I' m prenapausal and have a crazy low egg reserve..at 31 it totaly baffled doc the first month on clomid..nothing (no eggs at all) he immediately switched me to femara after first failed attempt with clomid..first month of femara..nothing at all..this being second attempt with femara now follies are small and cyst appeared this is soooooo depressing to me but reading your progress along with everyone elses really cheers me up a great deal

Byn87 is right everyone is different. I took my trigger shot on day 13 and was advised to have sexual relations everyday for 3-4 days. Boy was my husband excited. Why did they call off the IUI, because of the follicles. Are they saying why you are not producing?

It really varies from individual to individual.. is your doctor monitoring you by ultrasound? typically the dr's perform an ultrasound check to see how many mature follies you have, make sure they are mature and once you have one or two or more of them then they will have you use the trigger, with timed intercourse or IUI 36 hours later or so... what meds are you on?? GOOD LUCK !
