my aunt has fibromyalgia and she is in aqua therapy and it does help. she said it makes such a difference in the pain.
Ah..........I suppose that I'm the only one who didnt' benefit from hydro. therapy. Not fair!
I love exercising in the pool (I did it for 2 months in a sport center)....but the wave in the pool made me very, very disoriented; and my pain didn't subside.
Good luck and best to all.
hydrotheraphy is good you can do at home or at a hydro pool as long as the water is warm.I sometimes get into a spa and thats very warm and soothing. When i go i do exercises in the pool and the relax in the spa after.Hope this can help you what works for one doesnt always suit someone else, but anything is worth a go.
i am in aqua therapy for a bad shoulder MVA tear and tendonapathy i have FM a CFS symptoms and i was dx with HYPOTHRYOID symptoms an a dangerously low VIT D 3 i 'am on 50,000 iu which is 1 pill per week for 5 wks then he will check my levels well being on the VItD 3 for 3 weeks now 80% of my pain and spasms are gone now my CF symptoms and more are lessened and i think its the synthryoid helping me , mind you i have multigoitor nodules normal TSH levels have hypothryoid symptoms CF FM symptoms and i feel almost human the only crazy thing i am having is LEFT calf cramping when i am at rest i have Myofacial pain syndrome from the MVA and i get huge knots and thus far the soma 350 mg helping me, i take it at night if i had a hard long day since its addictive i don't want to fall into that so water therapy is good the water is 97 degrees so your not suppose to cause a female flora problem compared to the hot tubs up to 104 so thats what my PT guy said so if you can start swollowing VIT d 3 at walmart lmk how your doing i started a post soo you can search survey VIT D CFS FMS
Thanks a lot. I'll check it out! Anything is worth a try to relieve pain.
I have CFS and if I have fibro, it is secondary. I haven't done water exercises, but I know that there was a recent research study on this conducted by the Section of Physical Education and Sports, University Pablo de Olavide, Seville in Nov0Dec 2007. The results of the study were this:
"CONCLUSION: An exercise therapy three times per week for 16 weeks in
a warm-water pool is an adequate treatment to decrease the pain and
severity of FM well as to improve cognitive function in previously
unfit women with FM and heightened painful symptomatology"
To find the article online:
Exercise in warm water decreases pain and improves cognitive function
in middle-aged women with fibromyalgia.
