Autoimmune

I have an identical twin sister with MS who was diagnosed when we were in our early 20's. We are now 40. This past yr I have been experiencing sensations (tingling, twitching, burning, severe cramping) in my lower calves and feet. Lately the twitching is in my upper body. I had an MRI about 2 yrs ago which showed no lesions.
My birth mum also has MS. I am worried about these sensations...I have epilepsy and was told it could be related to that....my research does not back this up. Do you think I should be concerned I have MS??

Thanks dustybrown, I am in the process of making another appointment with my Neurologist, he is away for xmas and the availability of someone else seems to be scarce over this period. I can't tell you how much grief I feel having a twin sister with MS, I feel guilty for saying that but it is just the way I feel, she has lost so much, friends, partner, job etc etc... I also have concern of having the illness myself, I'm just showing progress in other areas and I'm afraid to lose it all. Thanks for your reply, I will follow it up as best as they allow in Australia.

Thanks for your reply. My Neurologist does not think I should have a spinal tap, I think he thinks I over worry. It feels quite invalidating again....

Thanks again.

I agree with ree4tu1. You should have additional testing performed and see a Neurologist who can give you treatment by a doctor who specializes in MS. Have you had other testing like an MRI, EMG and a NCV? This can also show disc issues in your spine that may contribute to some of your symptoms, which could be co-occurring. Sometimes, co-occurring conditions can confuse a typical Neurologist, but a specialist should be able to identify the difference. I hope this helps.

Your symptoms sound suspicious of MS. Has any doctor done a spinal tap?  This can find MS and other neuro problems and maybe put your mind at ease.
