Could lumbar injections be the culprit??

Good morning;
  I lay awake last night waiting to fall asleep and my mind was wandering like it does, and the thought hit me.I was in pain, not like now, after my last knee replacement. I had to go to the PM doctor in order to get the pain controlled. This PM doctor did two lumbar injections to help with sciatica pain which helped not one iota. What I was wondering was, do you think it was possible that the lumbar injections maybe did more damage than good?

   I know that my lower back felt as though it was going to explode after the 2nd injection and that's when I told him no more!! I had the most excruciating pain for months afterward. He turned out to be a really controling doctor and told me if I refused the 3rd injection, he would break my contract with him. Well, that pissed me off royally!! I refused the scripts that he tried to hand me and wealked out. I then readied my bedroom for w/ds and I got off all the meds he had me on at once. It took 7 days of misery but I was finally free from that man.

   My lower back actuall felt a little better when my system was clean. I never got really sick during w/ds it was more being very uncomfortable. I later got the biggest butt chewing of all time from my internist for getting off the drugs without his help..:(

   I didn't intend to write my life story, sorry. Do you think it was possible that maybe this PM doc might have made a blunder and that also might have been the culprit for the fibro raising its ugly head? It was just a thought, but one that really bothered me.

That is why I decided no more surgery too.  I got the RSD after the second one that was from mid-calf down to my toes.  After the knee surgery it spread to there (and my last hospital stay was traumatic in itself).  Yes, FMS has been connected with low-growth hormone, so we tend to take longer to heal.  When I first broke my leg and had the initial surgery done, after a year it was still broken (two places) and at that time it was held together with a plate.  They went back in and added bone grafts, growth hormone and an implant that was used to stimulate it.  It finally healed.

Anytime you want to visit me we can hobble around the block with our canes, lol.  I always say "I may be slow, but i'll get there!"

Take care my friend and have a great day.

  Thanks Breezy for your reply.I  kinda figured it didn't have an impact on my fibro/cfs but meh!!  Out of 6 kids in my family, I am the runt. My brothers and sisters are all over 5'8" Here I am barely 5". I had the "growing pin" cramping legs as a kid, had Scarlet Fever and at 15 was in a pretty bad motorcycle accident. I broke my right collar bone, 5 ribs on the right side and busted my right ankle in too many pieces to count. It took almost 2 years for my broken bones to heal.

  I guess if there is a candidate for fibro/cfsit would be me. It takes me so long to heal now. My cat babies don't know any better and once in a while I'l get good and scratched, it takes months to heal. That's one reason that I decided not to have any more replacement surgeries. The pain would probably drive me over the brink, and the thought of putting up with another healing joint for 2 years is just too much.

  Thanks again Breezy, it was just a thought.

I was having them done too and when they didn't hold the doc. wanted me in once a week to receive them.  I decided it wasn't worth it.

I think the FMS would be more due to your injury and having so many surgeries in a relatively short period of time.  If you had the FMS prior to all of this, it may have caused it to worsen.  Major surgery is to traumatic to begin with and if ones immune system is already compromised it can cause problems down the road.  Those with FMS have low growth hormone and also take longer to heal.

Hope you have a good day today.
