Confused!

I had flu in march. The symptoms never left me and I became very breathless. During this time they gave me an albuterol inhaler to break down the mucus in my chest but it didn't help much. Got over the flu but still had loads of varied symptoms: breathlessness, chest pain, itchy cough, sinus problems, muscle pain, tiredness, weird fluctuating body temperatures, foggy brain. Went back and forth to doctor for blood tests and X-rays but couldn't find anything so got referred to a pulmonologist. Had a spirometery test and he said I'm NOT asthmatic but he believes its post viral fatigue.

I sometimes feel like it has got to be asthma though. So my question is, can all these doctors actually be wrong? Does anyone else experience this awful itchy feeling in the throat and chronic cough/breathlessness with CFS?

I had no idea. I do wonder why no doctor ever bothered to mention this to me...I've certainly seen enough of them in the past few months!

Most  of these low grade pathogenic infections are  difficult to detect and treat.
They also evade detection from the immune system, so "clearing up" on their own, is not possible, if indeed, this is what it is.
They play "hide and seek"with the immune system!

Search under "Dr. Garth Nicolson" here, part time with medhelp, expert in this field.

Cheers!

Thanks for your reply. Is it really possible to have a walking pneumonia for that long? And have it missed by two X-rays? Do these kind of infections clear up on their own?

Hey Jergemus. Welcome to the forum.

Look into mycoplasma pneumoniae or similar pathogenic infection.
Sometimes these mycoplasmas can hide in the tissues and evade detection, by most standard blood tests and x-rays.
The post viral fatigue your doc suspects may be the tiniest Mollicute Bacterium infectious agent and still in your body, the smallest possible living organism of all!

There are other possibilities, but somehow this one fits your symptomology
very well.

Note, this is not intended as a substitute for medical advice.

Take care.
