inaccurate test results

Hi my name is Connie and I am truly in distress over the lab results that my doctor (PA) presented to me last week during one of my pain managment apptmts. It was my very first random UA and the only worry that i thought I possibly had was the inconsistency of taking my morphine pills.Rx was 1 in the morning- 1 at bedtime.More often than not I would miss one or both. To my horrid surprise that pill was not an issue at all! The next result was on my Hydrocodone. It's presence had been confirmed.(i take {3}7.5s every morning along with 800 mgs of Ibuprofen and 2 100 mg Lyrica. And normally 120 mgs of Cymbalta. But the attending PA who called in my prescriptions last month only ordered 30 of the cymbalta 60 mg caps for me instead of the normal dose i had been taking for the past several months. The presence of the Hydrocodone being confirmed had a major gliche of the metabolite Hydromorphone not being detected!! To make matters worse Methamphetamine was confirmed yet indicated an invalid test result in this section. Also tested for Methadone and Xanax Tablets!!!! Im not even prescribed nor ever have been on either one of these drugs! And on my ID section it has my birthdate being 1969 and that my ID was n/a. This is so all wrong. I couldn't stop crying as my reg.PA was telling me that I would no longer be getting anything for my pain due to this F,,,d up report. I am so scared that I cant quit bursting out in tears and shaking at the thought of pain engulfing me as it had before i began pain management . Please help me. What are my rights and who do i go to? Can I get a different doctor and can they put me back on my meds to keep the pain from coming back? How can these people play god like this? Please, this report is not right. What recourse do I have in this matter?

I think you need to be honest about what happened to any new Dr. Just explain what you can to them. You need to keep the lines of communication open and truthful. It's unfortunate that this happened, but you know you did nothing wrong and being honest and open will show that to your new Dr. I really hope!! Good Luck! I wish I new something better to tell you, but I don't. Good Luck!

Thank you both for responding to my post. Of coarse I will be looking for a new doctor but am really worried that this situation will effect how another will treat me. Do I tell them about this, will they put me back on my previous pain management program or confer with those that have failed to look at the cold hard evidence of my test results being wrong.I am so worried about all of this and shouldn't have to be if you know what i mean. But I am running out of time as far as needing my pain meds refilled and just am at a loss. Sorry for rambling on. Just wanted to say Thanks to both of you for caring enough to give some input into my nightmare. Sincerely, Connie.

Hello,
I am sorry to hear about your unfortunate situation. I know that those tests are not always accurate. I would consult with the pain management community if you haven't already to see what their thoughts on this matter is because I am not really sure what rights, if any, you have in this situation. I don't think they can leave you without a months supply of medications however. You may need to begin looking for a new doctor. Good luck to you.
