A Strange Nerve Reaction

I have fibromyalgia, and I don't know if that is significant with regards to what is happening.  When I go for massage therapy, there is a point to the right of my L2/L3 that when it is touched, I get what feels like an electrical jolt in my mid right upper arm.  My massage therapist has researched, and not been able to explain why this is happening.  Does anybody have any answers.

Thanks

Not for this.  It happens only under certain circumstances, only been set off by my massage therapist, and not every time.  My chiropractor has hit it a couple of times, and I have occasionally hit it pulling up my pants.  There was a time I lost 50 lbs (unfortunately I found it again), and it seemed to have stopped.

Just curious. Have you ever had your lower back x-rayed?

These are known as 'trigger points'.  I have the same sensations at points on my hips and my neck.  When any pressure is applied it feels like a surge of electricity goes through me...and it's quite painful.

We don't know why those with FMS have trigger points.  It sounds like what you are experiencing is referred pain.  When pressure applied to one area, effects another area on the body.  Those who have severe pain find that a trigger point injection will help alleviate the symptoms.

*Google trigger point injection to read more about this method.*

I hope you feel better soon.
