I have had trigger pt injections that were dry. They really did help for a while, but it was really painful for a little bit in my hips. I was experiencing less intense pain for about a month- but then I'm sure all the driving I do and the exercising negated that. I haven't had it since, because I realized I can't go alone because it hurt so bad, and haven't been able to coordinate schedules.

I have had pretty much same as dusty  with one addition radio frequency ablasion. Seemed to last a little longer than the facet injections about 6 monthes for myself. But everyone is differant don't forget! The TPIs i get in cervical and lumber are more faster acting relife but not nearly as long. TPIS are relife rite then but, they may last a day or a month. Myself i avg about 6 differant TPIs a month. Usually the TPI's are for the Fibro. and the facet and medial blocks are done for DDD or arthritis like dusty said. But if your like many of us we have to get both.

I have only had cortisone injections in the spine and shoulder and also specifically SI facet injections for my degenerative facet arthritis in my spine.

I would be interested in hearing the responses of anyone who has had a nerve block as well. They also call them "Medial Branch Blocks." From what I have heard they can be very helpful or very bad for people if carried out by a less than skilled doctor. Usually they will test the site a couple times first before they perform the actual deadening of the nerve though and it only lasts for about a year.
