Fibro/CFS - Please help

I have been on a couple of forums looking for some answers - I have not had any replies.  However, I need to know once and for all what is happening to me.

I had a baby in Dec 06 - After which I developed a lot of physical problems which my doctors considered mental.

Feb 07 - Womb infection followed by tooth infection - both treated with antibiotics.  Developed severe health anxiety due to experiencing unusual symptoms including reddening of my throat but with no pain, loss of appetite leading to severe weight loss, flushing/burning sensations in my cheeks.

March 07 - Had a Sinusitus like virus - Underwent tests - all normal (FBC, Blood Cultures etc...)

April 07 - Developed High BP and sustained sinus tachy.  Had more blood tests.  All normal.  (Incl. All levels, Thyroids etc...)

May 07- Became weak and had frequent anxiety.
Jun 07 - Had Echo and 48 hr holter.  More blood tests.  24hr Urine test.  - All Normal.

Sept 07 - Started to feel a little better but Sinus Tachy and BP still high. Beta BLockers sorting it out unless I ate food which gave me tachy also.

Up to now I have also had the following since then:

Vision Changes (weakening vision, halos, floaters, spots etc... which varies from day to day, worse when I am tired, sometimes i get tracking in my vision).
Unequal pupils - but not all the time, usually occurs when I look in the mirror or focus on something close up, otherwise they look normal to other people unless I am looking at them closely.
Anxiety - I get frequent free floating attacks.
Pain - I get pain in my legs when climbing stairs or walking up hill, easily physically exhausted.
I am now currently experiencing severe pain in my lower back making walking difficult, bending impossible, I ended up on my hands and knees just this morning attempting to get out of bed.
Low body temperatures - yesterday felt a little dizzy and cold, took temp which was 34.9 degrees C.  Back up to normal today.
I got pain and swelling to my wrist after writing by hand - like carpal tunnel, it went away by the following morning.
Muscles in my legs are currently sore and in spasm with my back trouble - back is in excruitating pain.
Unexplainable dental problems - gingivitis which worsened pretty quickly and is now chronic despite the fact that I religiously look after my teeth and gums.
Bloating to my stomach with tachy after eating meals, I tend to also feel hot after eating.
I also get other IBS like symptoms which I won't go into detail with.
A swollen gland in my neck that never went down after having mumps in 2005.  (I did have CFS like symptoms just after mumps but they only lasted a couple of months).

I have spoken to my doctor on numerous occasions and because all my bloods etc... were normal they said it can either be generalized anxiety disorder because of the attacks or a CFS/Fibro like syndrome which developed after the infections and virus after giving birth.

I just need to know if it is possible that I may have Fibro/CFS as all my levels that were taken were normal.

Hey there. Whether you have FM/CFIDS I do not know but I do believe it is possible, and actually it would not surprise me if you have both. People with CFIDS are known to have constant sore throats and swollen glands for no apparent reason that can last for years as well as low body temps., problems with irregular heartbeats, sensations of needing to pass out upon rising that can and often will bring you to your knees, etc. And generally speaking most tests that are given to people with FM/CFS/CFIDS always come back normal.

The symptoms you are describing are characteristic of FM/CFIDS but I am not a doctor. What I am is a 36 year old woman who was diagnosed with FM/CFIDS 4 years ago. That diagnosis came 2 years after the birth of my son. After he was born I started getting one symptoms after another and finally I came down with a flu and have never gotten better. I have problems with tachy, low body temp, swollen glands/sore throat for no reason, almost passing out when standing, widespread body pain (esp. in back, legs, arms), and the list goes on.

So yes, I think it possible. But I would like to say that the vision symptoms that you describe do worry me that even if you have FM/CFS that you may also have something else going on too. I do have vision problems but not like what you describe (that doesn't mean much in the land of CFS but....). My vision problems are mostly problems with ability to focus them. Example: I'm an avid reader but often I find that I cannot read anymore because while I can see the words they will move around the page, go in and out of fuzziness, or even if its a common word I am trying to read its like it was written in a different language or something, its weird. And it doesn't happen with just reading, that was just the best ex. I could think of to describe it. Anyways, your description sounds more migraine/neurological type then CFS....but again I'm not a Dr.

If you do not know much about FM/CFS then I would suggest reading up on it a little and a good starting off point to me is www.immunesupport.com which has symptom lists for both FM/CFS as well as some other similar conditions, and also has research and basic info for people trying to learn basics or just trying to deal with our symptoms.

Take care and I wish you the best of luck!

I know of a woman who is on the same research protocol treatment that I'm doing who has many of the same symptoms as you do. Like you, she also had health issues after childbirth.

Here is my website if you would like more information on FIBRO & CFS:

Good luck !

PLEASE get a lyme test.  You want a Western Blot, not elisa.  Lyme tests have many false negatives. Of course, I don't know what you have, but I've had many of your symptoms and I have lyme.  It took a long time to get diagnosed properly, as is common with this disease (shouldn't be, but it is).

Thankyou, Thankyou, Thankyou!  Your post gave me the most hope I have had in quite awhile!  To know someone else has the same symptoms???  Incredible!  I was just diagnosed with FM about 2 months ago after 4 years of pain and testing and it developed about one to one and half years after my third child was born.  This has been a miserable existence to say the least so thank you for being like me and for the website.  I never really considered the possibility of Chronic Fatigue but it seems that I have the symptoms of that too!  I too, have developed the same vision problems as you - reading is hard sometimes! It just hit me like a brick over the last 3 months so it had me very anxious.
Thank you for being out there!
Hope all goes well for you...
