You can have trigger points rather than tender points. Tender points are characteristic of fibromyalgia. Trigger points, however, are characteristic of Chronic Myofascial Pain. There is a very informative website that might be of interest:

Wow...you sound like me! Are you tired and weak daily too? Although I'm not in menapause, I'm only 29, but I have very irregular periods (which is hormone imbalances). I also have gained 50 pounds in the last 2 years. Sure sounds like FM or depression to me......but what do I know? :)
My back and neck hurts 24/7...The only other thing I can think of is the weight gain of 50 pounds in the last 3 years. That I blame on menapause and the lack of energy to exercise like I used to??? I take melatonin and Benadryl to sleep at night, and even with that I wake up around 3AM to take more Motrin. (Motrin works better then Aspiren, Tylenol, Aleve, etc) I can't think of any other problems. I'm truly NOT a wimp. I've had 2 miscariages with D&C's (one of them in the ER with no anesthesia) and two full term ceserian section deliveries. I was discharged in 48 hrs with the first one and 36 hrs with the second because I was doing so great (this was back before epidurals, when the normal stay was 5 days) I'm not allergic to anything that I know of and I don't smoke, drink, or take any illigal drugs...although if I don't stop hurting, I'm not eleminating it as an option :)
Do you have any symptoms and if so.. can you list them all ?
