Holes in Memory (not drug or alcohol induced)

I know this isn't just FM but Neurology had no opinions....  This is reposted from there.

Hi all.  This is my first time posting in this forum.  I am a 41 year old female.  Rarely drink, don't smoke, do not do drugs.

I am currently diagnosed with atypical Fibromyalgia, migraines, and possible MS.  However, my memory issues are not typical of these illnesses.  I have at least three different issues with memory.  Fibro fog (or MS, whichever), possible jamais vu (per Mayo Clinic), and sporadic memory loss concerning conversations and things seen (portions or books and movies).  I also have sporadic trouble understanding speech and written words as if in a foreign language.  As far as I can tell none of these events last more than a couple minutes.

I have absolutely NO recall of these events and only know they have occurred when someone else brings it to my attention.

For example:
I have forgotten a couple phone conversations which were later retold to me by the other party but I had no recall of entire call.  Another time I stopped while talking with no memory that I had been talking or what was said.

I got 'lost' in my parkign garage... didn't even know it was a parking garage at first.  Just a dark, scary place.  I've parked there for years and was near my car.

I forget parts of books and a couple of other written things.  When I see them again (my daughter's bedtime story) it's as if for the first time.  Not even vaguely familiar.  Parts of movies seem to fall in the holes, too.

Sometimes when someone is speaking to me I can't understand what they are saying.  Hearing test shows hearing is excellent.  (I also read "slow" sometimes.  Sound like I just learned to read.)

There are times when I can't comprehend what I'm trying to read.  Even a simple two sentence paragraph.

Mayo wonders about possible seizures but nothing showed on 2 EEG's.  They feel another disease process is likely at work but not currently diagnosed.  At the time I saw them in Feb 2011 I was only aware of sporadic jamais vu and abrubtly stopping/forgetting conversations.

and of course I also have normal forgetfulness.

Any thoughts.

Missy, doctors don't know everyone. No, no one ever figured out what it is. Possibly seizures, possibly bc of spots in the wrong place on my brain. I have periods where it's bad but not all of the time. The problem is that I don't always know when it has happened. I wish I could help. I'm looking into gluten as a possible source of problems. I've read cutting out gluten can reduce risk of or even stop dementia. Good luck. Stay positive. Surround yourself with positive influences.

I have simple partial seizures. I experience these memory issues all the time. I forget people, places I've been or things i've done, Scarry stuff. With medication it's better but not cured.

Did you ever figure out what was wrong? I am experiencing similar problems and the doctors are clueless. I do have Lupus but they say I'm too young for it to be that in my brain. Would love to know what you found out.

I sometimes have brief peiods where I'm in familiar places but either feel lost (don't know which way to go), or I can't recg my surroundings at all... think I took a wrong turn, only to realize I'm where I should be and know the area well.

I've been told it isn't Lymes but they aren't telling me what else it might be, other than siezures.  I can't tell if things are getting worse or if I'm just finding out how bad it is now that I'm not alone so much.

This, more than any physical problems, scares me.

That sounds like Lymes to me, definitely.
I had to stop driving because I would go blank as to where I was and where I was going. I forgot how to navigate circles with traffic and had near accidents.

I have some MRI pics posted on home page but they don't show much.

Thanks!
