I've had insulin resistance for decades which didn't impact on my thyroid gland but it has affected my cells. From all my research, it looks like inflammatory cytokines due to insulin resistance caused my thyroid cellular resistance.  My cellular thyroid resistance symptoms have improved since reversing insulin resistance and reducing visceral fat (still have a way to go getting rid of all that stubborn internal fat!).

Hmm. This is a bit more more complex.
"The plot thickens" as we're commenting here.
Thyroid has...company. Insulin resistance, which also impacts temperature , as recently discovered.
Which comes first? The thyroid issue or the insulin issue?
It is possible that both, thyroid and insulin, malfunction together.

" Adipose tissue communicates with skeletal muscle not only through free fatty acids but also through secretion of various products called adipokines. Adipokines came out as governors of insulin sensitivity and are deregulated in obesity. In addition to well known leptin, adiponectin, interleukin-6 and tumor necrosis factor-alpha, newer adipokines like retinol-binding protein 4 have been associated with insulin resistance. There is mounting evidence that not only adipose tissue but also skeletal muscle produces and secretes biologically active proteins or ‘myokines’ that facilitate metabolic crosstalk between organ systems. In recent years, increased expression of myostatin, a secreted anabolic inhibitor of muscle growth and development, has been associated with obesity and insulin resistance. Both hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism affect insulin sensitivity in multiple ways that might overlap adipocyte-myocyte crosstalk. Recent studies have provided new insights in effects of processing of the parent hormone T4 to the active T3 at the level of the skeletal muscle."

I had a 25 cm ovarian cyst and I think it might of been due to insulin resistance. I say this as insulin resistance is thought to play a prominent role in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). Not that I have PCOS though but insulin resistance seems the most likely culprit.  My doctor thought I had fibromyalgia but the wide spread pain was due to magnesium deficiency and this deficiency was due to insulin resistance.

Sorry, I'm male-no personal experience, lol, but I can attempt to help you with what I know.

Look into Ovarian-Adrenal-Thyroid Axis imbalance.
Not likely to get much help from NHS doctors.
Consider to go private and look for a Holistic Endocrinologist or ND trained in this field.
Specific things to look into is estrogen dominance (high estrogen-low progetsterone) and
Low thyroid function and dysregulated cortisol.

Unresolved biological and external stress, emotional factors, over time, contribute to such conditions as well.

If you need details let me know.

Best wishes.
Niko
