Potential FM

I am a 24 year old fermale who has been dealing with chronic widesprspread pain/ ache/ and soreness for about 8 months. I ran the gamitt of testing and everything comes back normal.

I went to my GP today who suggested FM. She did not refer me out to a rhumatologist yet but gave me samples of cymbalta to try. At this point I'm not sure what to do. I have many of the classic symptoms but also a fre things that dont seem to add up.

If anyone has any wisdom on this and would like to talk it would be greatly appriciated.

you need blood tests to rule out things such as lyme disease, arthritis, etc. Good Luck!

and I agree it is real! to all those non-believers!

I would definitely get to a Rheumatologist.  I was dx with FMS and spent a year battling the wrong ailment.  Once I got to a Rheumatologist who took a full history, ran a complete series of test, including bone and joint scan, the results came back with a list of problems, none of which turned out to be FMS.
Before any one gets defensive, FMS IS REAL, but you need to have the other tests to make sure you do not have something else and/instead of FMS.

how about thyroid?  do a search online for basal temps and thyroid and see if you have a low temp. - if so, your fibromyalgia might be due to hypothyroidism - i go back to a gp tomorrow to see if that is what is going on with me.  My thyroid results are "normal", but I have all the other classic signs - hair loss, weight gain, and widespread pain.  I have found research that says fibromyalgia is usually a response to some other underlying problem - so an undiagnosed thyroid problem, can slowly manifest itself to appear like fibromyalgia.  There are also other problems that, untreated, will eventually show up like fibromyalgia - for instance sleep apnea, etc.

I hope this gives you some ideas about what to research - don't give up - keep reseraching yourself and talk to your doctor about what you find out - there may be something there that they didn't think of - also research your own blood work - even "normal" values may be on the low or high end of something which can give you some valuable clues about what is going on.

I'm a 26 year old female with similar issues - and I understand how frustrating it is - we are too young for this to be normal for us.  Persist, persist - the internet is a wealth of information - gather it up yourself and bring it to your doctor - ask for additional blood work if necessary too.

Keep your chin up - and keep me posted on how it goes - good luck!
