Progression of Fibromyalgia

by IngeBose
I have suffered from Fibromyalgia now for more than 4 years, and I wonder if and how other people experience the
progression of the disease. For me this unexpected journey into the domain of constant pain started in my left foot,
then I experienced swelling and pain in my left leg, shortly after in my right leg. I can no longer walk more than 10 to 15 minutes before my legs give out on me. Once I was diagnosed properly and receive pain-management as well as physical therapy and hydro-gymnastic several times a week I have had periods of time that were almost free of pain but also flare-ups that totally destroy my quality of life. Since I live abroad and am being taken care of by a one-payer socialist healthcare system that is fantastic, I am very lucky in that regard, I can afford my treatments easily since pain-management and the medication are free of charge. However a progression is taking place in that the major pain has now moved into my arms, shoulders and hands as well as neck. I also suffer from rheumatoid arthrosis  but the flare-up and the quality of life issues are related to the progression of Fibromyalgia,My gastro-
intestinal problems are major bloating as well as intestinal problems that started even before the Fibromyalgia
took over my life. Please let me know what your experiences have been with the progression of Fibromyalgia, I
would much appreciate your information.

I have same symptoms as u. Diagnosed with FM maybe 15 or more years ago. Already had IBS, now colitis n IC, now tribeculation n several herniated disc'. But the bloating, gas, pounding lower stomach pain, body weakness n pain plus exhaustion n uncontrollable major depression has ruined my life.
I'm so sorry for your illnesses n don't really have advise but I do no how u feel. You are very very lucky to have that kind of ins. At this time I have good ins but don't know where to go next ? All my drs no bout everything n I have pain management but I only take pain pills as needed I won't get on a schedule now or ever. Biggest problem is I end up cancelling my appts way too often cause I'm in such bad shape..

Hello Inge.

Please tell me what medication(s) you're on, diet, allergies, food sensitivities, weight, height and brief medical history including any tests used for your diagnosis.

I know a fair bit about FMS, however, I had never been diagnosed with it
and I must admit, at present my health has never been better!

Looking forward to your reply and feel free to add anything else, you think
might be relevant.

Best wishes.
Niko
