Recent diagnosis

I am 40yo female and was diagnosed with FM last week, I am not sure exactly how long my symptoms go back but I would estimate that I have had this pain for at least a year previous to my diagnosis.
My GP is treating my condition with Lovan/Prozac and Panadine Forte.
I was wondering if anyone has any natural or alternative treatments for FM that they have found sucessful?
I have heard that one of the active ingredients in Chillis' may be useful due to its warming and anesthetic qualities.

As I have not had a lot of time to research FM since my diagnosis, I was a little bit puzzled on Wednesday as to why all of a sudden the pain eased to almost nothing and then again until late Thurday afternoon until the temperature dropped dramatically, the pain returned almost immediately. Both days the temprature was around 38 c (102 f). I was wondering if the heat was significant in reducing my level of pain.

I went back and read my post and one would think that I was still asleep. All I can say is that I am cold and can't get warm today.

There are different treatments reflected within our Health Pages (at the top of your screen in the right hand corner).  You may find something there of interest that could help.

The majority of those with fibromyalgia find that their symptoms fluctuate with temperature changes.  This isn't an unusual event for this illness.  I find I have worse flares in cold temperatures.

Wishing you the best and freedom from pain.

Hi;
   Cold weather really hurts me also. I've really had a miserable time this past couple of weeks. It's been colder this winter than I'm used to and then as it warmks up some during the , I can feel my muscles relax some, and when night falls I start the pain routine all over again. Plateletgal is one of the CLs here on this forum and she is on a natural treatment so she will be able to answer you. Take care.

gentle hugs
