Hi and welcome to the forum.
Yes, I have previously taken Cymbalta. It wasn't for fibro though. I had seen a doctor who wanted to put me on an antidepressant and so he placed me on this. I already had the fibro dx and I can honestly say that I felt a decrease in pain with the first dose. So it does seem to have the ability to be used for fibromyalgia cases.
I can't tell you about side-effects as everyone is different when it comes to that part. The typical side-effects that tend to wane after your body becomes adjusted to the medication are: may include nausea, dry mouth, constipation, fatigue, decreased appetite, sleepiness, and increased sweating. If you do a google search you can also find out about serious side-effects that you should be aware of.
I think it is well worth trying at this point. Even if it isn't fibro, the med. may help with your pain. Since your occupation keeps you sitting in a chair, and you have probably adapted to a certain position of your upper body, this is most likely causing much of what you feel. Therefore, looking into a chiropractor may be something to consider as well.
I wish you the best of luck and hope the medication works well for you. Please check back and let us know.
