can a car accident cause fibro??

i was in a car accident 3 years ago... i have only gotten worse. i have since been diagnosed with fibro. the more research i do the more confused i get. can a car accident set off fibromyalgia? if anyone knows..pass it on. thank you.

that is exactl how I got Fibro. I was in a bad auto accident where all the ribs on my right side were broken plus soft tissue damage to my sternum. One year later as a result of the horrible pain from the ribs and such my body just said.....hell no, this is enough and I was diagnosed with Fibro. Since then I have had many strange and painful side effects and they always turn out to be an aspect of Fibro. It makes my wholde body react to things much differently then it use to.  Namaste, Teri

I believe it can. I know I have read that in research and my sister was also diagnosed with fibro after a car accident and the doctor told her that is what set it off (for lack of better wording). I am sure someone more knowledgeable will come along and answer your question. I am sorry for your fibro diagnosis!
