Hey Mark

Yes , you need to check for deficiencies.
Top on the list because of suspected low gastric acid  is vitamin B12, which needs intrinsic factor to be absorbed in the small intestine.
Intrinsic factor is low when gastric acid is low.

You should have a complete nutritional/vitamins/mineral panel.
Your health will be very compromised if you neglect to correct any serious imbalances and deficiencies in your body.

I don't mean to alarm you, but you need to get this done, before any serious conditions develop.

There are also certain chiropractic Doctors who are able to correct hiatus hernia, without surgery, without drugs. Look into it.
I don't know what training they get in the UK, but in N. America it's an elective module, so only some of them are trained to do it. It is not that complicated, but it is a precise procedure.

I hope this helps.

Cheer.

Thanks i did put another post on but it has not shown up.

I was diagnosed with a small hiatus hernia 2 yrs ago that is the reason for ppi. I am now suffering with pain across my collarbone which is sore to touch and pains in my forearms, wrists and hands(mostly left). I am also getting a burning pins and needles feeling in my face.  This is really getting on my nerves now as doc keeps saying it is the reflux.  I dont know what avenue to take next any suggestions.

You may have some serious deficiencies.

First, if you have acid reflux, why did the prescribing doctor prescribe a PPI to reduce acid, if your acid levels are not tested.
In the event that your acid levels are low, will develop a lot more issues.

Please do on your own the soda burp test or the betaine HLC challenge.
Just look it up online. The result will give you an indication whether you have low or high stomach acid.
This is a very important matter to clarify, as it may hold the key to your improvement.

People can have GERD symptoms because of low or high levels of
stomach acid.
BTW  in general a lot  more people have low acid levels than higher.

I can give you a very lengthy explanation, connecting your symptoms
to low acid and a prognosis (grim), should this be indeed the case, but
this should suffice for now.

I hope this helps, however, please note that my comments & suggestions, are not intended as a replacement for medical advice.

Best wishes.
