is this normal?

My partner has been diagnosed with fibramyalgia. The latest symptom seems to be a swelling at the side of his left temple. The doctors dont really understand. Has anyone else had this swelling and how did they deal with it?

I would definately see a neurologist.  Don't just deal with your regular doctor or Rhuemotologist.  Many of these issues are neurological, and related to central sensitization; or central nervous upset.  That is why it is always critical to have an MRI preformed to check for other ailments that mimic FM/CFS..  It is often left to a few pressings on points on your body; and suddenly you have Fibro. Fibro is a diagnosis of EXCLUSION.  I have had 42 blood tests; 3 MRI's, 2 Ultrasounds, 1 echocardiogram, 3 ENG's, 1 EEG, 3 Ekg's, and I am going for an MRA (which checks for swelling of blood vessels and other abnormalities; dif from an MRI)  it can predict say an anyurism, stroke, bleeds, vascular issues, etc. etc..  all which can mimic Fibro.  I have never heard of anyone having swelling of the head or temple.. so I would really get that checked out.  I am not doctor; just a fellow sufferer who has dealt with this for 2 years of picking and poking to see what is wrong.  I can only offer my candid 2 cents; it is yours to do with what you like =)   I do belong to several other forums, and I constantly read anything I can get my hands on..   so I say that with all honesty; regarding the swelling.. when I say.. I have never heard of it.   Best of luck; and update us

No, I have not had swelling of my head. I would definitely get that checked out. That doesn't seem normal, no matter what. I do get swelling elsewhere, like hands and feet. I hope you let us know how he is!

YES, I have swelling of my arms, legs, knees.  The doctors keeps saying *it's not swollen* but I know my body.  Wherever I have this swelling is extreme pain.  It's horrible.  I have been all over to find out what it is.  Possibly a side of effect of all the meds I'm on....
