I think it is time for you to stop and think "What has my dr done to help me to find out what is going on?" My dr did several exams, labs, scans before diagnosing me with fibromyalgia. There are many doctors out there who think that is is "all in your head" despite the overwhelming evidence that these are actual diseases.
I too think you should probably have a complete thyroid work-up, both blood tests and a sonogram of thyroid.
If you have the ability to choose doctors I would consider finding a new one who is up to date on medical research.
Hope this helps.
Hi ninij9 and welcome to the forum.
Your hypersensitivity to water temperatures and pressure may perhaps be more consistent with unresolved thyroid issues, which may be underlying or mimicking fibromyalgia.
Have you ever had an adrenal stress profile?
Impaired adrenal function ( adrenal fatigue stage 1 & 2 or adrenal exhaustion stage 3 ) causes also impaired thyroid function.
Hidden stress is a significant but also very overlooked factor in disease processes.
Look into any events in your past (physical or emotional trauma, accidents,
surgeries, serious infections or other disease, abuse, loss etc.) that may
be linked to stress -hidden or otherwise.
Please do not disregard these connections.
Doctors who treat big numbers of fibromyalgia patients claim that in most of their patients' onset of fibromyalgia symptoms took place after injuries or traumatic events! It has similarities with post traumatic stress disorder.
I can offer you some references and studies on pertinent research, if interested.
In my opinion the pathway could be something as follows:
Injury/trauma or significant event--> onset of chronic and/or hidden stress
--> adrenal imbalance & thyroid dysfunction --> multiple symptoms and sensitivities starting with the most vulnerable organs/systems/parts of the body.
The suspected main causes of fibromyalgia are : trauma, infections, genetics, and connective tissue diseases.
Your doctor has to follow the new diagnostic criteria for fibromyalgia in order to rule out or to confirm it! it is not just a matter of opinion.
Please note that this is not intended as a substitute for medical advice.
You may post again or message me any time for details or to comment.
Best wishes.
