Another ? about lumps/knots from fibro

I know we have discussed before the lumps& knots we get from fibro! They are very painful & I am getting more of them! I've been having them in my arms & my breast, but today I  got them in my legs. these in my legs are much larger & hurt so bad! my new ? is: Are these knots from muscle spasms? Will a good muscle relaxer prevent these? or at least help them? any one recommend a good muscle relaxer for me to ask my DR. for? Also on another subject....anyone have something to recommenc to help me STAY asleep throughout the night??  Best Wishes For A Better Tommorrow, Brandy

Hi brandy, I am sorry you are haveing to deal with these knots...have you ever seen a good massage therapist ? One that knows about Fibromyalgia ? this massage do Not feel good, to be sure, but as you go thru them you will notice the knots are going away, you start feeling better, perhaps even put a bit of a wiggle in your walk again...by the time i started seeing a massage therapist I thought I was gonna be wheelchair bound...took about 6-7 weeks of going in every week, then gradually backed it off a bit...the first few times i wanted to crawl off the table, and he was barely touching me, so massage is not that relaxing spa vision we all have in our heads...it is a great treatment to help muscles to relax, yes, but also help our bodies get rid of the TOXINS that get built up and block our Lymphatic system...if you do get a massage, drink PLENTY of water, i sqeeze lemon into mine...before AND after your massage to help Flush out the Toxins...

I wish you Luck with getting the help you need to get the KNOTS OUT !!

I did the ambien but dont like the side effects i would do things and not remember them. And the cr was so addicting i had a lot of side effects when i got off. Dr has me on Elavil which i take at night and it helps so much. was on lyrica but so tired couldnt function that helped too since i got off he has up my dosage of elavil to help with sleep. i take cymbalta in am. Also i am taking natural calm at night this has helped also you might want to check into that. I would dread night because i knew it was such a struggle to sleep and my arms and legs would bother me so bad i couldnt get comfortable either. I do have a hard time walking especially at night. When i go to store i tire so easy and walking there gets hard you would think i was 70- just 47. this has changed my life so much just not the same person!  The knots go away when i go to massage therapy lady does a lymph node drainage and what  a difference. I am usually real puffy too before that holding all the toxins in! Hope your having a good day!

Ask your Dr. for trazadone for sleep.  Believe me, I've had trouble for years and that stuff works.  You can take you to 3-50mg. tablets but one works for me.  Flexeril for the muscle pain and 2mg of Potassium (not the stuff on the shelf but one that you need a Rx for) help my legs.  I have a 10lb. Pomeranian that sits on me if she needs to go out at night, which is rare, but the only way she can get me awake is to jump when she sits.  That will get anyones attention.  Talk to the dr this week about all of your problems.  Did you find a good rheumatologist in KC?  I know there is one in Lee's Summit that is suppose to be good. Best to you.

I don't know if a muscle relaxor would prevent them. But a good one is flexoril. It works for me. But I still have the knots.Ambien CR helps me to sleep some. It is a slow release, so it helps you to stay asleep..............if yu don't have a 21lb cat wrapped around your head, and licking you in the night! LOL.
