4 yr old w/ gerdno meds helping

Almost 2 yrs ago, my then 2 yr old daughter started with a chronic cough. After ear tubes, adenoidectomy, 3 different allergy/asthma drs, gi dr.endoscopy, upper gi + small bowel follow through, milk scans, ct scan. Found out she had reflux. Prevacid final dose 30 mg-didnt work still having multiple episodes reflux,. Now is on prilosec(generic)-same thing-not working. She just had a bronchoscopy today. Nothing out of ordinary. Waiting fro testing and cultures. Doing a 24 hr ph probe on Friday. My now 4 yr old is a little trooper but the cough is soooooooo bothersome. She gags herself and meds arent helping. ANyone go through anything like this or have their child have the surgery to fix it?

U r welcome...please try to keep the food and drinks away...it will help the meds work better...and u will see a diff.

I also noticed on myself after a recent surgery that the meds and anestheseia made my gerd worse.....and my meds alone did not work.....I had to play with the timing of the meds and add a few to cut the excess acid production from all the meds.

Netime ur DD gets new meds it can affect her also....

I pray she feels better soon

Thank you for the welcome note. My little one had certain drinks that were not allowed and some foods. We tried the raising the bed head and the not eating after 5:30  (keep in mind-her bedtime is 10:00) So that is a long time with no food. She is going strong though. She has been sleeping in the middle of hubby and me propped on pillows. She now sleeps through the coughing so when she has a major spat, we sit her up until its over. She always says that she is sick because of her chronic cough. I am so excited about thisa site!
Take care

HI and welcome to the GERD forum.

I am sorry ur poor child is going thru all this....is she following a special diet?.....I know there are foods that will add to the acid production....also, lifestyle changes are also good to follow.....

There is a list of safe foods and foods to avoid in our Health pages...links are available in the welcome message at the top of the forum and an icon above recent activity.

I pray u find ur answers soon
