A note re Protonix (pantoprazole)

My doc put me on pantoprazole (Protonix) and told me to leave a difference of 30 mins between taking the meds and eating.

But I still occasionally had some symptoms, such as mucus forming in my throat.  One day by accident I ate 45 mins after my meds, and I was much better that day.  So I experimented, and I've found that 45 or even 60 minutes works much better.  I thought others might want to know.

I hear u....like I said one RX does not fit all....my nephew was given a med to help him sleep...it made him so overactive, so quite the opposite.

So timing can be something that needs adjusting........and use what works best for u.

Tnx for your note.

An additional point:  how does it happen that the waiting period is that nice, rounded number of 30 minutes, and not 23 minutes, or 36 minutes?

I agree with u.....on all ur points. And even with an explination, we may need to adjust to fit us....in medicine - one rx does not fit all.

When you say "for the most part do follow ur drs rx... I agree.  However, pts are often unaware that what a doc tells you is not 100% precise, and inviolable.  Pts are unfortunately not in the habit of asking docs to clarify, which is important because, as you say, we are all different [from ea other]--e,g. "Doc, do you mean, no more than 30 minutes?  Minimum of 30 minutes?"  ETC.  Remember, (a) docs are terribly pressed for time these days, thus, will not expand their advice unless asked; and (b) lots of medicine is "empirical", i.e. based not specifically on any law of biology, but on "what works".
