Choking with gerd

I just rescued my 2 and a half month-old baby from choking in her sleep, her bassinet was inclined 30 degrees and she had been put on her side but turned onto her back. The reflux coming to her throat just stopped her breathing startling her . She just spread her arms open and shook them without being able to make sounds...if I hadn't been awake I am afraid she would've drowned in her own vomit. I am trying to find a solution to block her position in a side way one but nothing seems to work...any suggestions?

Here are a few links.
Note that "experts" recommend that babies sleep on the backs to prevent Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.  Personally, the acid reflux problem is more important.

One of the pics showed what looked like velcro strips so you could put the side pieces where you want too to make it fit.

Very similar to what I used with my kids.

Very similar as well.

I searched baby wedge.  You might also try sleep possitioner.

Sorry, but I don't even know if they are made anymore.  I don't remember what they were called either.  They started telling people to lay babies on their backs at some point between now an then.  Personally, that isn't a really good idea for the reason you describe.  Also, I recently saw a story on the news about how many more babies have deformed heads because of the practice.  Bottome line, do what you feel comfortable with.

I will see if I can find them and post a link.

God bless.

Thanks a lot! Yes I am trying to get an appt with a gastroenterologist and I am starting an antacid. I do like the prisms solution coz I tried to do the same with towels rolled up and positioned around her but I think the prisms are gonna work much better! Can I get them on line? We are overseas.

I agree with selma.  If she isn't already under a doctor's care for this, she needs to be.  You should call the doctor and ask what can be done.

You might want to post this question on the parenting forums as well.

When my kids were little 17 years ago when we were being told to lay them on their side,lol...  we had wedges to keep the baby on their side.  It was two foam triangular prisms covered with a soft fabric and then connected with a strip of the same fabric.  The strip was just wide evoungh for the baby to fit in.   One of the prisms was shorter than the other and went it the front of the baby.  You could flip it so that they could lie on their other side and not deform their head too.  It did prevent them from rolling.

I hope that helps you some.

God bless.
