Doctor won't refill my Prilosec Prescription

Help! My Dr. actually won't refill my expired prescription. The reason: studies show that all PPIs may promote osteoporosis. I have a hiatal hernia that seems to make my stomach an open door at all times. Though all my symptoms seem worse Feb.-June. I have been on some type of meds for over 10 years,but only when I have flare-ups. And he said most surgery only lasts 5 years. So I feel he really didn't give me any options. Any thoughts? I have been med free for a week and have been miserable despite diet changes. I can barely eat!

Get yourself another doctor. Seriously, you're telling your doc "here are my issues," and he's essentially saying "That's life, what can you do?" Worthless. Find yourself someone who's less apathetic.Go naturopathic, go western, go where ever, just get away from that lazy, lazy doc.

Hi...I just went thru a med change, but mine was bcuz it was no longer working. Ask ur dr about the HI Histamine inhibators.

And as u mentioned, u will need to continue to avoid certain foods and follow the lifestyle changes.

Pepcid is available OTC ask a Pharmacist about the concerns for osteoporosis....if ur dr and the pharmacist say it is a safer choice....then ask the dr for the rx strenght.

Keep us posted on what u find out....we may need to have u try some natural remedies as well.
