Esophigitis

Hi,
My doctor thinks I have esophagitis and started me on Nexium 40mg two weeks ago. Some of the symptoms have settled but I still have the feeling of food being stuck in my throat. The pharmacist told me that the swelling may take a while to go down. I am wondering if anyone else has had this and how long the feeling of food being stuck in the throat lasted for after commencing treatment? I am worried I may have a stricture.
Thanks.

Hi Selma,

Thanks for your comment. I am seeing my gastro on Wednesday. I have just spent the day in emergency with swallowing issues. They did an endoscope and down to my tonsils and larynx is fine so that is good. They have also given me i/v fluids and a steroid injection to reduce the swelling so fingers crossed I start to feel better tomorrow.

Thanks for the info about triggers. I really need to explore mine.

Emma

Hi...as I have mentioned to other posters is my symptoms do cycle.
As it will take time for the meds to take effect it is important to know y u have the excess acid.

I have a hiatial hernia and post nasal drip.

Stress is also a factor....so find the root of ur acid producing stomach and follow the diets and foods to avoid....this will help u feel better longer.

Is ur dr a gastro dr? if not and ur PCP is treating u ask to see a gastro dr and get tested for a hiatial hernia, gall bladder ect....

Godspeed
