GERD/Hiatus Hernia/Gastritis, but putting ON weight!

I have had GERD for over 10 years (been taking lansoprazole 30mg that whole time), and was recently diagnosed with a hiatus hernia and chronic gastritis after an endoscopy (along with very low vitamin D levels). Blood test does not indicate celiac disease, although results of intestinal biopsies not yet known. What I do not understand is that my weight is going UP, despite dieting. I am at my wits end and getting so low because of this. Does anyone have any ideas what could be happening??

Hi...sure, when u r on these meds for long periods our bodies tend to stop absorbing vitamins and minerals and nutrients we need,....and stores fat....

So our metabolic system is not working properly to break the foods down and use and store what we need, this is y u r low in vit D , most likely u r also low in magnesium as well.I imagine u have IBS issues, so u may want to ask ur Dr about trying probiotics to get the natural balance back to ur GI track....and take a few magnesium tablets to see if that helps....again all with the direction of ur Dr....suggest these to him/her....I know it helped me greatly.

I should also point out that I feel like I have a ball in the centre of my abdomen, along with bloating and greasy stools.
