GERD?

So for the past few days I have been experiencing a very strange sensation in my back throat, esophogus,  and my upper stomach. My throat has been kind of burning and when I take a deep breath in or burp my stomach kind of burns and hurts. It is a chronic kind of sensation and is always there. I don't have a fever and other then the burning sensation I feel fine. Anyone have any ideas.

HI, yes it can go on for a long period of time.....it all depends on the individual. Stress can add to it , so do try to relax and avoid foods that affect u.....

If u r not sure, please see the Health Pages here on Medhelp...u can access them thru the HP icon just above the recent activities...or thru the welcome message at the top of the forum.

Have u been to a dr yet??if not...please ask ur pharmacist which OTC med may help ur symptoms until u see ur dr.

please keep us posted on ur progress.

So its still bothering me its been a constant sensation for 6 days now. Can GERD do this or is it just like a few minutes of discomfort?

You should be tested for GERD. I was diagnosed with it three years ago. Just by hearing your symptoms and taking blood, they can find out if it is or not.  Does the sensation feel somewhat knawing as well...empty as well as burning?

Next time you visit your Doc, tell them about your syptoms. GERD is pretty easy to treat...they will most likely put you on something like Nexxuim, which works so well.

Good luck!

PS. Until you know, stay away from all greasy foods, sodas and anything acidic. Your symptoms will fade and possibly even dissapear. Also, you might want to keep a case of Tums by your bed. Keep your pillow elevated as well. :)
