Sore Spot in my throat

I have a hiatal hernia and have had this most of my life. I also have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome so I take a great deal of pain meds including morphine. I have been having a great deal of problems so I went to the gastro doctor and he did an endoscopy about 6 weeks ago and he said my stomach, esophagus, and upper instestine are all very inflamed. I also had a "thin" spot on my esophagus that he took a biopsy of as well. He said all the biopsies came back negative for cancer and that he believes the "thin" spot was from gastric acid. He also found that my stomach has slow motility issues, which is making the GERD much worse. He is hoping that my morphine is what is causing the slow motility and maybe a new medication would help.
I have been having  a hoarse voice for the past 3 weeks (never has happened before) and at times it feels as if my vocal cords are being strained. Tonight I developed this feeling in my upper right side of my throat. It feels like I have a lump in my throat right there and when I swallow food it is actually rather sore. It is only one spot in my throat. I am assuming it is my esophagus with the problem since it is worse upon swallowing food. What could be causing this? Should I seek emergency care or can this wait for my Gastro doc on Monday morning?

I have very similar symptoms and my ENT dr. found a papilloma in the back of my throat which will be removed shortly. More info can be found by searching for HPV above. It is however, pretty rare, but I just thought I'd share it.

Hi Sissy...I too have a hiatal hernia with EDS...it is a typical symptoms for us EDSers.....what u r describing does happen quite a bit with my voice and the swallowing issues...did u do the barium swallow test?

U do not need an ER unless u have a breathing issue......have u modified ur diet?....unfortunately meds like morphine will make ur reflux worse...and the reflux meds can cause u to not utilize vitamins and minerals the way ur body needs it...so one thing will affect another like a domino affect.

U may also want to get checked for a autoimmune disorder of the thyroid...just a thought....I will also get a link to a type of gastric issues that affect the voice and swallowing.....

Please Note - dairy products will slow the function of th eLES and since urs is already slow u deff want to avoid them later in teh day as well as elevate the head of ur bed if u have not done so already.
