I have very similar symptoms and my ENT dr. found a papilloma in the back of my throat which will be removed shortly. More info can be found by searching for HPV above. It is however, pretty rare, but I just thought I'd share it.
Here is info from the Health Pages here on MedHelp...u may want to check out other pages for help in modifying ur diet and lifestyle.
Symptoms of Laryngopharyngeal Reflux are:
Continual throat clearing
Chronic throat irritation
Chronic cough
Hoarseness
Excessive phlegm the throat
Dysphagia (difficulty swallowing)
Constant sensation of something in the throat
Swallowed food comes back up
Post nasal drainage
Weak voice
Cracking voice
Blockage of the breathing passage
Spasm of the larynx (voice box)
Wheezing
Heartburn
This condition is a result of both UES and LES not working correctly.
And it is possible not to have typical gerd/acid reflux symptoms.
Hi Sissy...I too have a hiatal hernia with EDS...it is a typical symptoms for us EDSers.....what u r describing does happen quite a bit with my voice and the swallowing issues...did u do the barium swallow test?
U do not need an ER unless u have a breathing issue......have u modified ur diet?....unfortunately meds like morphine will make ur reflux worse...and the reflux meds can cause u to not utilize vitamins and minerals the way ur body needs it...so one thing will affect another like a domino affect.
U may also want to get checked for a autoimmune disorder of the thyroid...just a thought....I will also get a link to a type of gastric issues that affect the voice and swallowing.....
Please Note - dairy products will slow the function of th eLES and since urs is already slow u deff want to avoid them later in teh day as well as elevate the head of ur bed if u have not done so already.
