is the pain located on the right side as it could be a gall bladder problem ,it would be best to have it checked out,,good Luck
Hi...sorry there were not many up at the hour u were in pain...how r u doing now?
I would suggest u go to ur Dr asap.
One thing that may help u at night is to elevate the head of ur bed to allow gravity to help keep the acids down where they belong.
Also do not lay down after eating for 3 to 4 hours.....and avoid foods that trigger ur GERD symptoms.
But as margypops suggested, it may be a gallbladder or other health issue, so do go to ur dr for a check to be safe.
Post an update on ur progress.
The pain is located right above my belly button line, both left and right sides (it started on the left and is worse on the left side too). I got lots of gas and feel very bloated this morning. Chest pain gets better. Tummy still hurts. Just took some prilosec. I only ate egg noodle, shrimp, and salmon last night. Which one sounds suspicious?
It could be any of the food items (or none of them) you listed as all our bodies are different. Maybe make some changes to your diet and see how your body reacts - this will enable you to elimate the food that causes problems
Severe stomach/chest pain really should be checked out if it continues or get worse. The symptom you are reporting were what I experienced when I had a bowel obstruction that ended up with life-saving surgery, as I foolishly didn't go to the doctor and later delayed going to the emergency room until I was in real trouble.
My stomach pain has gone. Nonetheless, I did go to see my doc since I'm still feeling extremely dizzy, weak and achy everywhere. It turns out that I am also running a low grade fever (99.6C) with a little bit of tachycardia (115bpm). I also had 13% of unintentional weight loss in the last 6 months. So he thinks this might be caused by some infections. We're still waiting for the lab results to come through. I'm feeling so awful, yet I can't even take any tylenol coz my tummy cannot tolerate it. My doc gave me some Ambien hoping that would help me get a little more sleep. Can you take Ambien while having a fever?
Hope u feel better soon...not sure about ur question, ask ur Dr or local pharmacist about that.... the label should have instructions and if this was an issue it should be listed.
Thanks! I just realized that ALL of my symptoms that has been bothering me for the past year or so, e.g., high cholestrol, digestion problem (IBD), joint/bone pain, frequent infections, etc, could be related to a single culprit - vitamin D deficiency! I will ask my doc to refill vit D prescription for me, and hopefully that will fix all of my problems. :)
I came across this old thread I posted a year ago. Just wanna post an update - I was indeed diagnosed with rectal cancer last December. So the weight loss, abnormal bloating, gas pain, ingestion, ... turns out all rooted from cancer cells growing in my GI. I'm glad that I did a full GI workup. No one believed that I would have cancer at age 35. Worsening GI symptoms really should be checked out thoroughly. Don't assume common causes like GERD or IBS unless more serious causes have been ruled out!
Thanks for updating your post. Bowel obstructions cause very sharp pains, as you and I know. I trust you are recovering well, do keep us informed. I think you are doing a real service by posting the result as so many people feel there are single or simple answers to the very, very complex digestive system. Thank you.
I agree with Flycaster, u r helping others by posting this update and that not what appears to be GERD may be,,,always go to a Dr for a full check up, never self medicate or be afraid to find out what is really going on....I feel even with Drs they sometimes bandaid a situation, so listen to ur gut and u know ur self better then any Dr so insist on the best care if u feel what was RX'd is not working....knowing the root of an issue or all other underlying issue can only help u treat it and feel better more quickly.
((hugs)) I pray u r doing better
