6 months ago, I started having really bad acid pains in my stomach, went for a scope and diagnosed with acid reflux. Initially put on strong dose of PPI and within 2 weeks, pain stopped. Then I began having sore throat, particularly only on the right side, left side has no pain. ENT did a scope of throat, said it was inflammed and swollen and suspected LPR, gave me a different PPI rabeprazole and took it for 2 weeks. Still no improvement, having throat pain only on right side. Then gastro doctor did a 24hr pH monitoring test, mannometry test and barium test on me, I was off all PPI and stomach meds for 3 weeks before doing the 24hr test. Test result came back negative for acid reflux or hyperacidity. Gastro Dr then diagnosed it as sensitive esophagus, said to leave it alone and learn to relax as it has not been causing me much problems.
For the past 4 months, I have been having right sided sore throat on and off, sometimes I do feel liquids from my stomach coming all the way up to my throat when I burp. However since Gastro Dr already confirmed that it isn't GERD and since many different types of GERD medicines do not work, is it safe to say I do not have GERD/LPR but just hypersensitive throat?
