Medication for Acid Reflux

I have severe Gerd, I  have to wait till jan. 8th to see a specialist. I have severe vomiting, nausea and headaches. I am currently on omeprazole 40mg , I take 1 pill a day in the morning. My throat still feels as if food is stuck in there and my throat feels as if my throat was burnt severely and now it's sore. My stomach hurts, i constantly keep relieving gas. I would like some advice to what I should eat to make me feel better. Especially because of the vomiting & gas. I don't have insurance or else i would check myself into the hospital. Please help. Thank you.

Thank you for your response!! The vomiting has stopt, however my throat is still a bother as well as the gas issue. Unfortunately the hospital is too expensive for this kind of problem.  It took 5 tries to finally find a specialist that accepts self-pay. I will be seeing the specialist on Tuesday and I can't wait! I am baffled by how 4 other places don't accept self-pay! That is insane! I tried to get insurance 5 times and every time I was denied. I was willing to pay $200 a month. I was denied for an INNOCENT heart murmur. Thanks to my acid reflux problems my doctor sent me to have an echo and that's what they found. And now I am getting denied health insurance. This is ridiculous!!

Sometimes what we think is GERD is actually a problem with the 'swallow' reflex.  
I'd suggest follow the idea of Selma who moderates this board to raise the head of your bed about six inches, just find some blocks of wood to raise it.  
Keep in mind, most hospitals will accept patients who don't have insurance, and will accept small monthly paybacks.  Check with your hospital's policy.
Do check with your hospital and then find some relief.  Keep us informed.
